Okay everyone, make friends with the new kid and play nice:
Yes, I finally broke down and bought the digital camera that I've been harping about. It's a Nikon Coolpix 800, and I am so excited. I bought it from a place called Abe's of Maine, which, hilariously enough, is located in Brooklyn, NY. I should be getting my baby within the next few days (I need a name for it...anyone have an idea?), and all the acessories (card readers, batteries and charger, and ac adaptor) at about the same time.
I got my hair cut really short. Well, short for me. It used to be halfway down my back, now it's a few inches below my chin. My mom cut it, as usual. I thought she had taken off too much, and I momentarily freaked out until I realized I loved it. It's really nice to have all the weight off, plus it's not nearly as much of a hassle to wash and brush. I have fetish with short hair, actually. I admire a great many bald headed women (Sinead O'Connor, and Ani DiFranco during the early 90s, among others), and I would love to just shave it all off, but instead of looking hip and sleek, I would end up looking like a lumpy potato. I have a strangely shaped head, so it would never work out.
Another option I was toying with was bleaching all of it and dyeing it an insane shade of red, like maybe Franka Potente in "Run Lola Run":
I dunno. I feel the need to do something drastic, for the simple fact that I have had boring hair all my life. Whether it was long, short, bowl cut or perm, it's still the same shade of ashy brown that I can't stand. Thus the need for peroxide and Feria on many occasions. I think I've also been influenced by Dani, who changes her hair color at least weekly. So influenced, in fact, that I bought a bottle of "Punky Professional" dye in a particularly brutal shade of fire engine red. If I do, you will all see the results.
Work continues to suck. Only 14 more days. I've added a countdown to the main page. Dani was moved to another zone so now I can't even talk with her. It was brutally hot in the warehouse all week. Liz the Taskmaster continues to be, well, the Taskmaster. Same old shit. I won't bore you beyond that.
If you were ever contemplating joining my notify list, now might be a good time. Things are only going to get crazier around here, and I don't know how much I will be updating, or even if I will have internet access right away in my new place. I move in 23 days, and I don't even want to think about all the stuff I still need to do. I finished stripping the chairs, and have primed two of them so far. I've decided to paint them a dark shade of blue, and then stencil yellow stars all over it, ala Henri Matisse. I've just been so slow getting to it. I have no desire to do much of anything anymore after I get home from work. I just want to relax and regroup for the next day.
